Appetite
I saw a street dog once,
watching me
rod-dominated retinas working to perceive the veers of my silhouette
with thirst,
canine poise signaling possibility and precision
feline urges toil on the edges of resistance.
I have never been promiscuous
and my temptation has never been laid in willpower
instead curiosity
discerning the abilities of another dog,
can he jump higher?
does his nose breathe in more keen air?
what about his barks? are they invasive enough to shatter windows
and make furniture tremor?
